gabf-newspaper-imageThe 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio might be behind us, but that doesn’t mean that talented Boulderites are done bringing medals to the Foothills this year. Returning from the Great American Beer Festival that took place between October 6th and the 8th in Denver, Boulder County craft breweries earned eight total awards in 2016, with two gold, three silver and three bronze medals. We want to also include special congratulations to Front Range Brewing Company and 12Degree Brewing Company as first time medal recipients this year for their amazing brews.

Here are this year’s award-winning beers:

Gold Medals

  • Stick’s Pale Ale, brewed by Bootstrap Brewing Company, winning the American-Style Pale category
  • Achtertuin Seizoen Farmhouse Ale, brewed by The Post Brewing Company, winning the Classic Saison Category

Silver Medals

  • Upslope Brown Ale, brewed by Upslope Brewing Company, placing second in the American-Style Brown category
  • Piney Ridge Dunkel, brewed by Front Range Brewing Company, placing second in the European-Style Dark Lager/Munich-Style Dunkel category
  • Fade to Black -Volume 1, brewed by Left Hand Brewing Company, placing second in the Export-Stout category

Bronze Medals

  • Treachery, brewed by 12Degree Brewing, placing third in the Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale category
  • Wild & Crazy Rye, brewed by BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery in Boulder, placing third in the Historical Beer category
  • Wreak Havoc, brewed by Bootstrap Brewing Company, placing third in the Imperial Red Ale category
